Craven Museum & Gallery, along with Muslim Museum Initiative, offer you the chance to work with artist Maryam Golubeva. The paper cutting workshop will be held on Saturday 30 January 2016 and will focus on Islamic/Turkish Iznic patterns. The workshop will run from 10.30 – 15.30.
This workshop is a great opportunity to learn new or progress your existing artistic skills, and no previous experience is required.
The workshop will include an introduction to Maryam’s work, the history and origins of paper cutting art, an introduction to Iznic patterns and how it can be expressed via means of paper cutting, and a chance to produce some unique art work. By the end of the session all participants will have a completed Iznik tile inspired design.
Artwork produced by participants will be exhibited as part of Craven Museum & Gallery's 'Faith in Art: A look at Contemporary Islamic Art in Britain' exhibition – 5 February to 28 March 2016.
Thanks to generous funding by the Arts Council England, we can offer the subsidised fee of £5 for Craven residents and concessions and £10 for non-Craven residents. Online booking can be made via our EventBrite page or for more information contact the museum or call us on 01756 706407. Payment and registration can be made at the Museum.
This workshop is part of our Islamic Art season, featuring an exhibition on contemporary Islamic Art and Arabic calligraphy classes. Our Islamic Art season is one of the activities included in our Museum: Indispensable project. The project is supported using public funding by Arts Council.
