Olympic open weekend

Craven District Council is hosting a mixture of "olympic" activities in Skipton at Craven Swimming pool and fitness centre, Aireville Park and Craven Museum & Gallery.

You can take part in an Olympic Ring Challenge to collect 5 London 2012 wrist bands. To collect a wrist band you have to take part in one of 10 Open Weekend activities. One band is collected per activity, with the challenge to take part in five activities and end up with the 5 Olympic Ring coloured wrist bands. The first 50 to conquer the challenge will receive an Olympic Legacy.

The Open Weekend starts at 12 noon at Craven Swimming pool and Craven Museum & Gallery. 

Craven Museum & Gallery: Friday 12.00pm – 4.00pm and Saturday 10.00am – 4.00pm
Craven Swimming pool: Friday 12.00pm - 10.00pm, Saturday & Sunday 8.45am - 5.00pm

The Olympic Ring Challenge activities are:

1.   Swim: 30 lengths or 30mins (a cost will apply)
2.   Row: 2000m or 15mins in the gym (free)
3.   Run: 2.5km or 5km around park following Skipton Triathlon route, takes about 15 - 30mins (free)
4.   Walk: Follow the map route between Craven Swimming Pool and the Museum, takes about 30mins (free)
5.   Golf: Half a round, takes over 30mins (a cost will apply)
6.   Tennis: A match in the MUGA, takes about 15-30mins (a cost will apply)
7.   Table Tennis: A match takes about 15-30mins (free)
8.   Museum visit: Stay for as long as you want but leave yourself at least 30mins (free but closed on Sunday)
9.   Exercise class: The class takes about 45mins (£1.50 charge)
10. Badminton: A match takes about 30mins (a cost will apply)

The Olympic Ring Challenge is free to take part in but some activities have a small cost, see details above.

Children and Young people under 16 can only participate with a parent or legal guardian, either as couple or family.
