Some Sheep are on the Pitch...
26 May 2010 – 27 September 2010
Bill Shankly once said “Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I can assure you, it’s much more important than that.” and this summer Craven Museum & Gallery agrees.
‘Some Sheep are on the Pitch…’ celebrates football and over 100 years of Craven District Football Association. The exhibition tells the story of Craven football events, along with episodes from world football from 1909 to 2009.
On display are many objects on loan from the National Football Museum in Preston, as well as cups and trophies won in local competitions. Visitors can see an England 1966 World Cup shirt, cap and programme, and a pair of John Terry’s boots. There is also the chance to sit on some original Wembley Stadium seats and have a go at our local ‘Spot the Ball’ challenge.
