Top 10 Objects

Craven Museum & Gallery has been collecting since 1928 and today has around 60,000 objects ranging from natural history to public archives. We asked our volunteer team to select the top ten items that the museum has in its collection to give you an idea of the collections variety and importance.

The Top Ten is made up of objects of both regional and national importance. These include the Flasby sword and Hebden Hoard that were all found locally. The collection is also made up of nationally important items, such as William Shakespeare’s First Folio.

In order to keep these items safe and well-stored we do not always have all these items on permanent display. However, if you would like to know more about any of these items please contact the museum.

We hope these items capture your interest as these are just the tip of the ice berg - there are plenty more to see at the museum.

Is there any item missing from this list? Let us know if you think we have overlooked a particular highlight of collection by contacting the museum. We always like to hear your opinions on our collection, particularly about objects you have a strong connection to.
