Much like other parts of the museum’s collection, this area of the art collection has developed over many years, providing a varied and interesting mix. One thing the pieces in the main collection have in common is that they have all come from local people. Some works have come as a small collection given to the museum by the artist themselves, whilst others have been individually donated to or purchase by the museum.
Skipton born artist Kenneth Holmes gave a collection of his prints to the people of Skipton. The prints, some featuring local scenes, are on loan to the museum from Skipton Town Council.
